Silver Paws Program (Seniors for Seniors):
Linking both human and animal seniors together, this program was created in recognition that seniors often enjoy spending their golden years with a companion animal, and that senior pets, while usually trained and well mannered, sometimes wait the longest time for a person/family to choose them for adoption. This program makes a special effort to bring senior pets and senior people together. Adoption fees are waived for senior humans 55 and up who adopt one of our Silver Paws Program participants.Seniors adopting Seniors (The Silver Paws Program) is an animal adoption program of Finger Lakes SPCA (Bath Shelter). This service provides free adoption packages (which includes spaying/neutering, initial vaccines and deworming, a dose of flea preventive (leukemia and FIV testing for cats) to senior citizens who are at least 55 years old who are compatible with and willing to adopt a select shelter orphan. These dogs or cats could be seniors themselves or could be animals who have simply been looking for a home for a long time.
