Cat & Dog Food Pantry Guidelines

The Food Pantry exists to prevent companion cats and dogs from being surrendered to area shelters, turned loose, or otherwise given up because their owner is unable to afford pet food. This is an important part of our mission to reduce the number of homeless animals in our county.

Please read these guidelines. You must agree to them to receive assistance. They are set up so that we can help as many people as possible. If you have any concerns or questions, please e-mail us at janean@fingerlakesspca.org or call 607-622-5363. The pantry is located at 72 Cameron St., Bath, in the yellow farmhouse.

  1. The pantry is open 11 am to 4 pm on Tuesdays only. Only food is available. No other pet supplies are available.
  2. The first time you receive food you must fill out the food pantry application with us. To register you must be a resident of Steuben County. A photo ID is necessary, as well as a second proof of address, such as a utility bill. We do not share this information with anyone. As part of your registration, you may designate a third party to pick up your food. Make sure that person knows they must present an ID.
  3. Please call first (607-662-5363) to know whether or not we have the food you are looking for. We do not guarantee we have food at any given time. You must call during business hours. Please do not leave a message outside of business hours.
  4. You may receive food once per month.
  5. We do not deliver food.
  6. We accept donations of food for our pantry. However, we cannot accept food that has been opened or that has expired.
  7. We reserve the right to refuse this service to anyone who abuses any of the above rules or is abusive in any way to our staff or volunteers. We also do not provide food to breeders.
  8. By signing this document, you are certifying that your animal is not chained outside or in a kennel 24/7. We highly encourage that your animal be spayed or neutered. If not, please ask us about our Catnip program (for cats only).
  9. When you receive food from our organization, you agree not to hold the Finger Lakes SPCA, its staff, volunteers, and benefactors liable in the unfortunate even your pet(s) become ill or suffer an adverse reaction from the food we provide. You understand there is always a potential risk involved in feeding your cat or dog a new food.
