Interested in Volunteering?
It takes all kinds of good people with all kinds of special talents to make an animal shelter successful.
When we think of the SPCA and what its needs might be, we automatically think of walking dogs and petting cats. And, although those are vital needs, they only scratch the surface of all the dozens of activities and jobs that are taking place so that the program can thrive and serve the animals well.
Volunteer participation can include helping with a one day per year activity, being involved with several different activities each year, occasional emergency assistance when called upon, or a set daily or weekly assignment.
As you see on our application form, some of the needs we have include clerical work, building and grounds maintenance, gardening, fundraising, dog walking, photography, foster care, preparing crafts to sell, sending thank you notes, assembling newsletters, helping with the spay and neutering program, table sitting at events to assist with the adoption process, and updating computer data.
The list is really endless and ever changing.
Whatever your personal schedule … whatever your talents … we would like to find a spot for you.
To become involved, call Jeff Canner at 607-622-5363. He will determine whether you need to attend an informational or orientation meeting and get you signed up.
If you would like, you can also fill out the volunteer profile form ahead and bring it with you to the meeting. Otherwise you will receive it the day of your meeting.
Looking forward to having you join our organization. Our ability to succeed comes from devoted people such as you. It is the dependability and loyalty of our volunteers that allows us to fully serve those deserving creatures that cannot speak for themselves.
